Deep Cleaning (Scaling)
If we do not floss as often or well as we should, bacteria calcifies onto the tooth surface below the tissue! It releases a toxin that causes bone loss and the gum tissue to bleed. But don't worry. We place anesthetic so you do not feel a thing to make the teeth and tissue look great!
Periodontal Disease
Periodontal disease is the underlying condition associated with the need for a deep cleaning. Bacteria is allowed to accumulate below the gingival tissue and form adhesions to the teeth known as calculus. Calculus is hardened, calcified masses containing bacteria. The bacteria secrete a toxin causing tissue inflammation and bone loss. If the bacteria is not removed in a timely manner, tooth mobility or tooth loss will result.
